Nokia to launch Windows 8 phone soon

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop confirmed the company will launch soon a new smartphone running Windows Phone 8. Elop made the comment in Oslo, where he was meeting with Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas, saying Windows 8 smartphones would be released “relatively near term”, Reuters reports. The news sent Nokia’s share price higher amid expectations it will launch the new device at the Nokia World event in early September. This would put the company just ahead of Apple’s expected launch of the new iPhone later that month.

Kenya Moves Ahead With $500 Million Shared 4G Network

The Kenyan government is pushing ahead with plans for a shared 4G network, despite opposition from the country’s dominant mobile network, Safaricom.

The government plans to spend upwards of US$500 million with the deployment due to start next year.
Speaking to Reuters, Bitange Ndemo, PS Ministry of information and communication, said that the deal was set, but they were awaiting financing.
